The theater director spoke about plans for the construction of a modern building
In Karakol, the demolition of the Issyk-Kul Regional Musical and Drama Theater named after Kasyymaly Zhantoshov will begin. This was announced by the theater director Talaybek Turgunov, noting that a new modern facility will be built on the site of the old building.
According to Turgunov, the current condition of the building raises serious concerns, as it was put into operation back in 1983.
“The building was constructed using the ashara method and prefabricated structures, which has led to its deterioration. We are on the verge of significant changes. The demolition of the old building will give a start to the construction of a new theater that will meet modern architectural and technological requirements,” the director added.
The project includes the creation of two auditoriums with 1,000 and 350 seats, as well as conference rooms and a regional library. The completion of construction is expected in 2028.
