She emphasized that this site is of immense significance for the spiritual and creative development of society. "It is necessary for the Cabinet of Ministers to intervene in this situation immediately. The creative intelligentsia has already organized a rally. It is unclear how the Ministry of Culture could be unaware of the plans regarding the land plot! This is a historical site located in the center of the capital. We must do everything possible to preserve it. Such barbarism cannot be allowed. Many sites have already been destroyed in Bishkek, including the famous mosaic," noted Kozhokulova.
She also reminded that masters such as Chuykov, Chokmorov, and Aitieva grew within the walls of the House of Artists. In her opinion, this site must be preserved in its original form, as it is part of the cultural heritage of the people. "We should be proud of this," added the deputy, praising the work of the city hall.
"Unfortunately, the city hall often finds itself in a reactive position. This issue could have been discussed in advance and clarifications provided. Why are our city authorities not engaged in informational work? They should act proactively, rather than just responding to crises," concluded Kozhokulova.
Additionally, Seyidbek Atambaev demanded clarification on what grounds the House of Artists is being transferred to the Presidential Administration. He reminded that this site has a 90-year history, and among the 500 members of the Artists' Union, there is dissatisfaction with what is happening.
It is important to note that the artists learned about the intention to annul the lease on the land plot and close the House of Artists at 108 Chuy Avenue through social media.
According to information from the Presidential Administration, these plots are needed "to create favorable conditions for attracting investments, implementing investment projects, and the comprehensive development of Bishkek's infrastructure."
