Almost a quarter of companies do not use specific methods to attract young specialists, despite their shortage.
In Kyrgyzstan, there is a shortage of young professionals, but approximately 24.5% of companies do not employ a targeted approach to their hiring. This information is contained in an analytical report prepared by the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration as part of the World Bank initiative "Strengthening Social Assistance and Labor Market Programs."
According to the study, employers in Bishkek and the Talas region show greater interest in youth, offering internships, practical training, and career advancement opportunities.
"At the national level, internships and practical training remain the most common tools — from 27.7% to 40.7% of companies use them. The exception is the Chui region, where this figure is significantly lower — only 15.2%. Additionally, employers offer flexible working hours, on-the-job training, participation in job fairs, collaboration with employment centers, and various social packages. Despite this, part of the hiring is still done through informal networks," notes the Ministry of Labor.
Interest in training young specialists is gradually increasing: 25.4% of employers in Bishkek and over 22% in the Talas and Chui regions offer relevant opportunities.
With the support of the World Bank, the ministry is implementing the "Youth Internship" program, which is designed to assist citizens aged 16 to 35 in gaining their first work experience. The program covers 30 pilot cities and regions, where participants receive a stipend and have a chance for permanent employment after completing their internship.
