According to the lawyer, incompetent assistance was provided during the removal of a brain abscess.
Lawyer Arina Kibreyeva reported on social media about the tragic situation faced by a 10-month-old girl who became disabled due to cerebral palsy after medical procedures.
“The child's mother contacted me seeking help. Doctors performed two surgeries to remove a brain abscess. Due to the low qualifications of the medical staff, the girl developed complications in the form of meningitis, which, unfortunately, was not diagnosed immediately. An MRI revealed that the child had abscesses on both sides, but only one was removed,” Kibreyeva said.
She noted that a repeat surgery at such a young age did not allow for the complete removal of the abscess.
“The mother was forced to turn to a private medical clinic. The doctor prescribed antibiotics that were unsuitable for the girl and placed a catheter for an IV in the area of the postoperative wound on her head, without providing adequate resuscitation monitoring for critically ill patients. As a result, the mother had to take out loans and organize a fundraising campaign to transfer the child for treatment in Turkey. Miraculously, the girl survived,” the lawyer added.
As a result of the treatment, the child became disabled due to cerebral palsy, with no prior diagnoses, and also developed speech problems. All case materials have been registered with the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Bishkek, and complaints are currently being prepared for supervisory authorities and the Ministry of Health,” Kibreyeva concluded.
