DW: German actress searched for years for the perpetrators creating porn deepfakes of her

She tried to use lawyers to remove these materials from social media

German actress Kolleen Fernandez spent many years trying to find the perpetrators who spread porn deepfakes featuring her, only to ultimately discover that it was her own husband, DW reports.

Fernandez, known for her talent and work on television, faced the issue of online harassment. In 2021, she found that pornographic materials allegedly featuring her had appeared online, but in reality, they were deepfakes. Since then, hundreds of fake photos and videos, as well as social media profiles created in her name, have emerged online.

With the help of lawyers, the actress sought to have these materials removed from social media. In November 2024, she reported the matter to the police, as she mentioned in an interview. According to Kolleen Fernandez, her husband Christian Ulmen, also a well-known actor and TV presenter, read this interview before Christmas and began to ask questions about her statement. Soon, he confessed that he was the one spreading these photos and videos, as Fernandez told the magazine Spiegel.

The actress shared her feelings: "It was like receiving news of a death; I couldn't speak or cry." She noted that Christian was in a panic and feared prison. Fernandez realized that one of the perpetrators turned out to be her closest person. The couple married in 2011 and raised a daughter together, being one of the most famous couples in the German show business. After this incident, Fernandez filed for divorce.

At the end of 2025, she also filed a lawsuit against Ulmen in a Spanish court, where they had lived for the last few years. According to Spiegel, a preliminary investigation has been initiated, but it is still unclear whether charges will be filed or the case will be closed. Journalists attempted to contact Christian Ulmen, but he did not respond to the inquiry. Ulmen's lawyers offered to have a conversation to clarify the situation, but on the condition that there would be no mentions of their statements in the material.

Fernandez admitted that she is struggling with this situation, understanding how it affects her family and daughter. Nevertheless, she wants her ex-husband to acknowledge his actions. "This is serious," she says, "I was exposed to the public in an unacceptable light. Sometimes I still wake up with panic attacks."
