A new institute of paralegals has been established in Kyrgyzstan

A new institute of paralegals has been established in Kyrgyzstan, as announced at a press conference at the Kabar agency by the Chairman of the Legal Aid Service under the Ministry of Justice, Akjol Kalbekov.

According to Kalbekov, the current system does not provide equal access to qualified lawyers in various regions of the country, especially in remote settlements. This became the reason for the introduction of the paralegal institute — specialists who are not lawyers but undergo special training and can provide basic legal assistance to the population.

“Paralegals are professionally trained consultants who can help citizens with simple legal issues: they provide initial consultations, offer legal assistance, direct clients to the necessary authorities, and assist in preparing the required documents,” Kalbekov explained.
He also noted that paralegals undergo basic training, after which they become part of an association that monitors the quality of the legal services they provide.

According to Kalbekov, the creation of the paralegal institute will significantly simplify citizens' access to legal assistance, especially in remote regions.
