The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic received five ventilators to strengthen neonatal care in the Batken region.
On December 1, 2025, a ceremonial handover of five SV300 (Mindray, Neo function) artificial ventilation machines took place at the Ministry of Health in Kyrgyzstan. These machines were purchased by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as part of the project "Strengthening the Health System of Kyrgyzstan." The total cost of this delivery exceeded 65 thousand US dollars. The equipment will be used in the neonatology departments of the city of Batken and Batken region to provide emergency assistance to newborns, including those with severe conditions and respiratory failure.
Health Minister Erkin Checheybaev thanked UNDP for its ongoing support and noted that the new equipment fully aligns with the country's priorities in improving neonatal care and reducing infant mortality rates. "These ventilators are critical for the small patients in the region. We strive to ensure that even in the most remote corners of the country, children can receive quality medical care. UNDP's contribution to strengthening our healthcare, developing human resources, and implementing modern technologies is invaluable," the minister added.
Alexandra Solovyova, UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan, emphasized that the transferred equipment will enhance the capacity of the neonatal departments in Batken region and provide newborns with access to quality and timely medical care. "Our strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health over the years demonstrates that a systematic approach and international cooperation can save lives. We will continue to support the country in modernizing medical services, training personnel, and introducing new technologies," she noted.
In addition to the handover of the machines, UNDP is also organizing training for medical personnel in Batken region, enabling them to safely and effectively use the new equipment from the very first days of its operation.
