Five Ventilators for Newborns Transferred to Batken Region
On December 1, a ceremony was held in Bishkek to hand over five SV300 (Mindray, with Neo function) ventilators. These devices were purchased as part of the "Strengthening the Health System of Kyrgyzstan" project with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
According to information from the Ministry of Health, the total cost of the equipment exceeded $65,000. The ventilators are intended for neonatal departments in Batken and Batken region, where they will be essential for providing emergency assistance to newborns, including those suffering from critical conditions and respiratory failure.
Health Minister Erkin Checheybaev thanked UNDP for their long-term support and emphasized that the new equipment aligns with national priorities in neonatal care and reducing infant mortality. "These ventilators are of immense importance for the small patients of Batken region. We strive to provide qualified assistance even in the most remote corners of the country. UNDP's contribution to the development of the healthcare infrastructure, training of specialists, and implementation of modern technologies is highly valued," noted the minister.
Alexandra Solovyova, UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan, added that the transferred ventilators will help enhance the readiness of neonatal departments in Batken region and ensure timely and quality medical assistance for newborns. "Our long-standing cooperation with the Ministry of Health confirms that a systematic approach and international partnership can save lives. We intend to continue supporting the country in modernizing medical services, training personnel, and implementing innovative solutions," she emphasized.
“In addition to supplying the equipment, UNDP will also provide training for healthcare workers in Batken region to work with the new ventilators, allowing them to be used effectively and safely from day one,” the statement added.
