Umar Kremliev, the president of the International Boxing Association (IBA), has appealed to the authorities of the United Arab Emirates and Kyrgyzstan for assistance in resolving visa issues for the national team. The Men's World Boxing Championship starts in Dubai today, reports the IBA press service.

According to information from the IBA, work is currently underway with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs to secure visa support for Kyrgyz boxers so they can arrive in time for the competition. Kremliev noted that the event promises to be record-breaking in terms of the number of participants and the size of the prize fund.

“We are expecting the Kyrgyz team at the World Championship. We are working with the UAE government to ensure visa support so that athletes can arrive on time for the tournament. We also hope for assistance from the Kyrgyz government. It is important for every team to have the opportunity to participate,” emphasized the IBA president.

Earlier, the Boxing Federation of Kyrgyzstan reported that out of 13 athletes, 10 were unable to obtain visas and, therefore, lost the opportunity to participate in the championship. All necessary documents were submitted to the IBA organizers, but most of the boxers were denied visa issuance.
