It has been officially announced that Bishkek will be the venue for the centralized playoff tournament of the Western Zone of the AFC Challenge League. Due to the tense situation in the Middle East, the Asian Football Confederation has decided to hold the quarterfinals and semifinals in a single decisive match format, abandoning the two-legged series. The matches were initially scheduled for March, but new dates have been set from April 19 to 22, 2026.
Among the main events for Kyrgyz fans is the quarterfinal where "Muras United" will face the Lebanese club "Al-Ansar." This match is scheduled for April 19 at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium. On the same day, the main arena of the country will host a match between Oman's "Al-Shabab" and Kuwait's "Kuwait SC." It should be noted that the playoff teams from the Western Zone include the winners of three groups and one team that finished second based on the best performance.
The winners of the quarterfinals will meet in the semifinals on April 22 in Bishkek. The team that wins this match will earn the right to represent the Western Zone in the tournament final, scheduled for May 9. Experts emphasize that "Muras United," playing at their home stadium, gains a significant advantage, as the support of local fans could have a decisive impact on the outcome against the title-winning teams from Lebanon and Kuwait.
Preparations are currently underway to ready the stadium for receiving international delegations. Organizers are hoping for a large turnout of spectators, considering the historical significance of the moment: this is the first time a club from Kyrgyzstan has a real chance to reach the final of such a prestigious tournament on home soil.
