In his debut match at the tournament, he faced Ibrahim Ibrahimov, the reigning European champion in the 65 kg weight class, and emerged victorious.
After the bout, Magomed Kurbanaliev, one of the coaches of the Russian national team, shared his thoughts with journalist Vladislav Abdusalamov.
- How would you assess the match with Ernazar Akmataliev?
- Ibrashka returned from Umrah, had three training sessions, and found himself here. He couldn't refuse to participate. Akmataliev is one of the strongest, but Ibrashka, in my opinion, is head and shoulders above. Perhaps next time he will be able to defeat him. This was his first start in the 70 kg category.
- Was the wrestling difficult?
- No, there were no difficulties. I watched the match and noticed that he was a bit tense. How long has he not been training? It happens. Last year he also came here and lost 10:0, and then won at the European Championship. Ibrashka is not one to give up.
