Indian runner Sufia Sufi entered the Guinness World Records

Sufia Sufi, representing India, has been entered into the Guinness World Records for setting a world record among women on the high-altitude Manali - Leh route.

The athlete covered a distance of about 480 kilometers in 6 days, 12 hours, and 6 minutes, which is confirmed by official registration. She was the first among women to complete one of the most challenging routes in the Himalayas in such a short period of time. Interestingly, the previous men's record for this distance was approximately 120 hours, which highlights her achievement.

During the run, Sufia crossed five mountain passes and ascended to an altitude of over 8,000 meters. This route is known as one of the most extreme in the world due to low oxygen levels, significant temperature fluctuations, and difficult terrain conditions.

The official confirmation of the record took place in 2023. Sufia noted that she received the certificate of her achievement after the result was verified by a commission.

Previously, Sufia Sufi had already set both national and world records in ultra-long distances, including a run of over 6,000 kilometers along the "Golden Quadrilateral" route, which she completed in 110 days.
