Croatian specialist Robert Prosinečki has officially begun his career as the head coach of the national football team of Kyrgyzstan.

On March 25, the team played a friendly match in Turkey against the national team of Equatorial Guinea.

In his first match in the new position, the 57-year-old Prosinečki watched as his team suffered a defeat with a score of 0:1, conceding the only goal from a penalty in the first half of the match.

Prosinečki became the 14th coach to lead the Kyrgyzstan national team and the tenth who failed to achieve victory in his debut match.

Among all coaches, only two managed to win their first matches: Sergey Dvoryankov, who led the team to a 1:0 victory over Macau, and Štefan Tarković, who also won by the same score in a game against Afghanistan.

Anarbek Ormonbekov and Urmat Abdukaimov, in turn, finished their debut matches in a draw with a score of 1:1 — respectively against Nepal and Afghanistan.
