Earlier in the tournament, Abdymalik Karachov defeated Osman Sultanov, Omurbek Asan uulu beat Chermen Tavitov, Kadir Keneshov lost to Hasan Hasanov, and Nursadyk Nurdinov was defeated by Arip Abdulaev (all from Russia).
