In the tournament in the weight category up to 72 kg, Makhmudov began his performances from the 1/8 finals, where his opponent was the Kazakhstani Dias Kaleni. The Kyrgyz athlete showed determination and won with a minimal advantage of 4:3, despite being behind 0:3 at the beginning of the match.
In the quarterfinals, Akjol faced Azerbaijani wrestler Tundzhaev Vazirzade. A key moment of the bout was a four-point throw from the opponent, which ultimately led to the defeat of the Kyrgyz wrestler with a score of 2:5.
Since Vazirzade lost in the semifinals to a Russian wrestler, Makhmudov was unable to continue competing in the consolation matches and finished the tournament without a medal.
On the same day, in the category up to 82 kg, wrestler Yryskeldi Maksatbek uulu also could not advance further, losing to Qatari athlete Shahin Badagimofrad with a score of 2:10 in the 1/8 finals.
