Historical Figures of Pishpek

Dedicated to Dr. Andrey Nikolayevich Denisov, who did so much for the restoration of historical photographs of the city of Pishpek-Frunze-Bishkek.

Many photographs are accompanied by comments from V.G. Petrov.
The city of Pishpek. Used the article by Galiya Matyanyu. The photograph shows two brothers Lyulyuza and Susuza Matyanyu. The brothers were the largest merchants of Pishpek and respected people in their city. Both graduated from a Russian school. Lyulyuza continued his studies in Tashkent and served in the army. (held the rank of non-commissioned officer) Made a pilgrimage to Mecca. (Lyulyuza - Hajj) Held a high position in the city administration. He was part of the city delegation (of three people) at the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty. At the ceremony, he received an order and the rank of chieftain. (This is a Cossack officer rank, equivalent to a second lieutenant, awarded to people who earned the highest trust and favor of the ruling monarch.) He was granted an audience with the reigning Emperor Nicholas II. Died from a stray bullet during the December events of 1918. It is known that Susuza had a chain of stores located from the Registry Office to the Dostuk Hotel. In 1932, he left for Kuldzha with his family. He died in June 1957 near Dzhambul at the age of 78. (a few months after returning from China).

G. Pishpek. Alexey Illarionovich Ivanitsin 1870 - 1925. Died in Tashkent in 1925. Most likely due to an accidental shot, not related to a class enemy. (as this event was previously interpreted) He lived (in G. Pishpek) in a (basement?) one-story house at the northeast corner of the intersection of Kuznechnaya (Pravda) and Tokmakskaya streets. (Ivanitsina) The house was demolished in the 50s. Behind this house to the east on Tokmakskaya street, after crossing with Yarmarochnaya (Gogol), there was a military cemetery. (adjacent to the city cemetery) It is possible that it was in the military cemetery that Ilya Fedotovich Terentyev (elected elder of Pishpek) was buried in 1914 and Alexey Mikhailovich Fetisov in 1894. (Founder of the willow grove, state garden, oak park, cheese production.)

Ilya Arkhipovich Fatyanov. In 1925, the Central Committee of the VKP(b) appointed him to Pishpek as chairman of the regional executive committee. He worked in Kyrgyzstan for three years. Then he was recalled to Moscow. He became a union-level pensioner. In his memory - Fatyanov Street.

Zhevakin Stepan Dmitrievich. In 1918 - member of the Pishpek executive committee. In December (1918) - in the front ranks of suppressing the Belovodsk uprising. 1919 - district military commissioner. 1930 - manages the
