Expert: Trump's Road Has Reached Central Asia

The heads of state of Central Asia have received an invitation from the President of the United States to Washington

As noted by political scientist Mars Sariyev, "Trump's road" has reached Central Asia. He made this statement in an interview for Vesti.kg, commenting on Donald Trump's invitation to the region's leaders for the "C5+1" summit, which will take place on November 6 in the U.S. capital.

According to the expert, this is already the second meeting in this format organized by the U.S. The first such meeting took place in 2023 in New York during the United Nations General Assembly with the participation of President Joe Biden. Sariyev also added that the summit is part of a consistent U.S. strategy that has developed after the signing of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the establishment of the Zangezur corridor in the South Caucasus, which in turn inspired the holding of a summit with Central Asian leaders.

The expert emphasized that Washington seeks to reduce Russia's influence in traditional political arenas of the region.

"It is no coincidence that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was personally invited by Trump to the summit in Egypt, where the peace agreement regarding Gaza was discussed. Armenia is also moving in line with the policy that interests the American leader. At the moment, Russia has effectively been pushed out of the South Caucasus, and it is only a matter of time. Now the focus is on Central Asia. Trade with Europe and the U.S. opens up prospects worth hundreds of billions of dollars, which is significantly attractive for both the Caucasus and Asian countries. New avenues for cooperation may be proposed at the upcoming summit in Washington. Kazakhstan, for example, is interested in the Middle Trade Route, which will allow it to trade with the Caucasus and further with Europe, which is also important for China. Trump intends to meet with Xi Jinping this week during his visit to Asia, so a conflict of interests among major geopolitical players is not anticipated," Sariyev added.

It should be noted that earlier Donald Trump invited the leaders of Central Asia to Washington to participate in the "C5+1" summit. The meeting is expected to discuss issues of security, trade, and economic cooperation, as well as deepening interaction in the "C5+1" format.
