Digital Transformation and Investments: What Does 'C5+1' Offer to Central Asian Countries?

New Horizons in the Relations of the Republics

Meetings in the "C5+1" format represent a new model of regional diplomacy. This was commented on by Vesti.kg regarding the outcomes of the recent "C5+1" summit in Washington, where leaders of Central Asian countries and the USA gathered, according to Bakytbek Jumagulov, director of the Eurasian Strategic Research Center.

According to him, this format was established in 2015 to improve coordination between the five states and the United States. Jumagulov noted that it symbolizes the region's transition from Soviet dependence to multifaceted interactions.

The development of relations between the countries will not only bring economic benefits but also allow for better integration into global processes and the digital transformation that is relevant in our time.

"Kyrgyzstan has a rich history of democratic practices and an open political system, as well as a developed English-speaking educational sector, including schools and universities, making it an example of successful reforms for the USA. The country has significant opportunities for modernizing hydropower, critical materials, processing, digitalization, and creating data centers. This has generated clear interest from the USA, creating favorable conditions for the implementation of these projects," the expert added.

According to the analysis, by maintaining a balanced external course and improving internal investment conditions, the "C5+1" format can become a stimulus for a new stage of modernization in Kyrgyzstan.

"Such an approach not only strengthens Kyrgyzstan's strategic independence but also promotes the development of innovative and energy initiatives, as well as opens new pathways for integration into the global economy. This applies not only to Kyrgyzstan but also to other Central Asian countries, as Donald Trump mentioned in a recent meeting with their leaders," Jumagulov concluded.
