The UN Special Rapporteur expressed concern over the December incident at Manas Airport

The delegation of the International Federation for Human Rights was not allowed into the country

On the night of December 11-12, Kyrgyz border guards did not allow representatives of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) to enter the country. This event raised serious concerns.

On December 16, Mary Lawlor, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, noted that such incidents are alarming.

The FIDH representatives planned to participate in the International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights Bir Duino, which took place in the capital from December 12 to 16, as well as to hold meetings with civil society members, independent journalists, and diplomats.

According to FIDH information, the delegation was denied the right to legal or consular assistance. After a brief interrogation, they were returned to their flight to Turkey, from where they had arrived.
