At the meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Judo Federation (IJF), a decision was made to allow Russian athletes to compete on the international stage under the national flag, with the anthem and other symbols. The first tournament where they will be able to do this will be the "Grand Slam," which will take place in Abu Dhabi from November 28 to 30. This was reported by DW.

In justifying the decision, it is emphasized that "sport must remain neutral and free from political influences." It is also noted that Russia traditionally holds leading positions in world judo, and its return will enrich competitions at all levels, provided that the principles of the IJF, which are based on fairness, inclusivity, and respect, are upheld.

Earlier, the International Swimming Federation also decided to allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in team competitions. The new eligibility rules for athletes with neutral status will come into effect on January 1, 2026.
