The International Olympic Committee (IOC) plans to introduce new rules that could lead to the complete exclusion of transgender athletes from women's competitions. This was reported by the Telegram channel Nexta Live, citing sources familiar with the situation in the organization.

It has become known that a final decision is expected in early 2026. If the changes are approved, this will become the first universal standard for all Olympic sports, replacing the current practice where each sports federation sets its own rules.

Previously, the IOC allowed transgender individuals to participate in competitions provided they met certain medical criteria, including restrictions on testosterone levels. However, such rules have been criticized by athletes and experts who argue that biological differences may give competitive advantages to transgender women.

According to media reports, the IOC's initiative is aimed at "ensuring fairness and equality of conditions" for all female participants. At the same time, the organization noted that it will continue to develop separate events and inclusive programs for transgender athletes.

An official statement on this issue is expected to be made in the coming months.
