ARTICLE BY THE DEPUTY PEOPLE'S COMMISSAR OF HEALTH OF THE KYRGYZ SSR ON THE FIRST GRADUATION OF KYRGYZ DOCTORS
Frunze, August 13, 1944
The Kyrgyz State Medical Institute is one of the youngest in our country. It has existed for only 5 years, but during this time it has already trained a significant number of Soviet medical intelligentsia, with 880 doctors graduating from its walls. The students of the medical institute are selflessly working at the front, in medical battalions, hospitals, and helping to restore healthcare in the liberated regions of Ukraine and Belarus.
The 1944 graduation added the first group of Kyrgyz doctors to the ranks of the national intelligentsia. Among them is the Stalin scholarship holder Kakish Ryskulova, the daughter of a collective farmer, whose student life can serve as an example of discipline and deep love for science.
All the young Kyrgyz female doctors have been retained in graduate school at the departments and as interns in the institute's clinics. Thus, the national teaching staff at the medical institute will receive a significant replenishment. This will greatly advance the work of translating educational literature and teaching in the Kyrgyz language, without which it is difficult to move towards the mass training of doctors of the indigenous nationality.
The Kyrgyz Medical Institute is a model educational institution with a complete educational process. It has well-equipped laboratories, clinics, and a solid medical library. The teaching staff is carefully selected, including prominent specialists such as Professors Fabrikant, Khavkin, Volsky, Elberg, Tsarenko, Brudny, Dudnikov, Moshkovsky, Yablenik, and others...
The healthcare of the national republic can only develop rapidly if there is widespread training of doctors, educators, and scientists of the indigenous nationality. This is a task of paramount state importance, the successful resolution of which depends, first and foremost, on a properly conducted recruitment.
