Popov Sergey Makendonovich (1905-1980),

Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR

Born in Lugansk (Ukraine).

Graduated from Moscow State University (Moscow, 1937), where he also completed his postgraduate studies.

Worked as a laboratory assistant at the Lugansk Locomotive Engineering Plant, laboratory assistant, assistant, associate professor at Moscow State University, senior researcher, head of the laboratory at the Institute of Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, professor, head of the department at the All-Union Institute of Textile and Light Industry, director of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kirghiz SSR.

Specialist in the field of the theory of elasticity and plasticity.

Awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of the Polar Star, and medals of the USSR.
