The National Energy Program of the Kyrgyz Republic until 2035 also notes some shortcomings in the coal industry of the republic:
- lack of reserve capacities for the generation of electric and thermal energy;
- insufficient development of decentralized heating sources;
- the increase in coal production is carried out at the expense of the enterprises' own funds;
- significant volumes of coal are imported from Kazakhstan.
The publication Tazabek has prepared an overview of the 25 largest coal mining companies in Kyrgyzstan, which are engaged not only in mining but also in the sale of coal, including its delivery.
In the first ten months of 2025, the total amount of contributions from these companies exceeded 818 million soms.
The full overview provides information about the companies with a breakdown of contributions to the budget for ten months, as well as data on the leaders and owners.
