Nansen Peak
Nansen Peak - one of the most outstanding summits located in the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
The height of the peak is 5697 meters above sea level. The mountain is situated in the Central Tien Shan, south of the Enelchek Valley. As early as 1902, the German geographer Godfried Merzbacher called this peak the most prominent of the entire mountain range opposite the Tuyuk-Ashu Pass. The scientist noted that the mountain deserved a name befitting its magnificent appearance.
A worthy peak was given a worthy name. The mountain was named in honor of the great scientific explorer Fridtjof Nansen, who was awarded the Nobel Prize, and has proudly borne his name for 87 years. The peak was first conquered in 1937. The expedition was led by A. Letavet. Climbers were presented with a truly breathtaking sight: a majestic mountain, entirely encased in armor of ice and snow, shimmering with diamond brilliance in the rays of the sun.
The path to conquering Nansen Peak is not easy and requires thorough physical preparation and proper equipment. To date, one of the most popular routes to the summit is its eastern slope.
Climbers from all over the world eagerly accept the challenge, despite the fact that ascending Nansen Peak is no easy feat.
In reward, they are presented with a true revelation in the form of a mountain in icy armor, unlike any other mountain in the world.
