For the first time, the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, led by the Ambassador to the United Kingdom Ulan Jusupov, is participating in the work of the 34th session of the IMO Assembly as a new member. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meetings are taking place in London from November 25 to December 4, 2025.

Kyrgyzstan's entry into the IMO is considered a significant step towards the development of international cooperation, providing new opportunities for strengthening ties with global maritime organizations, enhancing transport integration, and actively participating in international trade corridors. Membership underscores Kyrgyzstan's commitment to safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly transport solutions, including the development of transit and multimodal routes, which is particularly important for landlocked countries. It also reflects the country's intention to deepen integration into international transport structures and protect its national interests in multilateral forums.

The Kyrgyz delegation is actively participating in discussions on key agenda items, including maritime security, the digitalization of the shipping sector, emission reduction, and support for the needs of landlocked countries.

Within the framework of the Assembly, elections for 40 members of the IMO Council for the term 2026-2027 are planned. Kyrgyzstan is consulting with partner states and closely monitoring the process of forming the new composition of the Council.
