The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan reacted to the sanctions imposed by the European Union concerning two local banks.

According to the EU Council Regulation published on October 23, 2025, these banks were included in the sanctions list due to actions by Russia that undermine stability in Ukraine.

The press service of the NBKR noted that if necessary, they are ready to use additional measures and tools provided by Kyrgyz legislation to ensure the stability of the banking sector and protect the interests of depositors and creditors.

“Currently, the banking system of the country demonstrates stability, has sufficient capitalization and liquidity, and is resilient to external challenges. Commercial banks continue to operate as usual, providing uninterrupted service to their clients,” the NBKR added.

The National Bank is also taking measures to minimize potential negative consequences of the sanctions for the banking system and to maintain financial stability in the country.
