An informational session on enhancing digital and personal safety for schoolgirls was held in Bishkek

In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, at secondary school No. 118, an informational session was held aimed at raising students' awareness of the risks of sexual and digital violence and developing safe online behavior skills. This was reported by the press service of the city administration on December 8.

The event was organized by the Lenin District Akimat with the support of the United Nations Population Fund in Kyrgyzstan. A total of 103 female students from grades 8 to 11 participated in the session.

Deputy Akim of the Lenin District, Baktygul Ismailova, emphasized the importance of preventive measures and creating a safe educational environment for adolescents.

The speakers at the event were UNFPA gender expert Nazira Zheenbekova and expert trainer Gulbarchyn Jumabaeva. They discussed with the students the threats associated with sexual and digital violence, as well as methods of protection and the procedure for seeking help in difficult situations.

Additionally, special attention was given to inter-agency cooperation and the role of families and educational institutions in systemic prevention and the formation of a culture of safety among youth. UNFPA provided the necessary technical support and informational materials.
