At the meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development, Deputy Kamila Talieva expressed the opinion on the need to introduce restrictions on the cost of contracts at universities in the country. She noted that over the past two years, tuition fees have sharply increased, which raises concerns among students' parents.

Talieva emphasized that many parents are turning to deputies with complaints about high contract prices. "Some rectors set inflated prices and then allow themselves to vacation abroad, using funds from the contracts. We have already discussed the issue of fines, which remain in effect. Contracts are collected and used at the discretion of the rectors. I raised this issue, particularly regarding BatMU," she noted.

Zhenaly Orozbaev, director of the State Agency for Antimonopoly Regulation, reported that since 2016, the education sector has been exempt from state price control. He added that the agency is currently developing proposals, as in some universities, the cost of contracts has doubled, for example, from 50,000 to 100-120,000 soms in just one year.

“We conducted an analysis and contacted the Ministry of Economy. We have the authority to check the formation of the cost of services provided by universities. In particular, we demand the return of 23 million soms from the National University, as these funds were obtained unlawfully. Also, the Jusup Abdrakhmanov University (AGUPKR) must return 13 million soms,” he reported.

The deputy called on her colleagues for active proposals and added that the parliament is ready to provide support.
