According to representatives of the Ecological and Technical Supervision Service, the fire occurred due to not fully extinguished coal ash that was among the waste.
The municipal enterprise "Tazalyk," which services the city of Cholpon-Ata, was fined 28,000 soms in accordance with Article 230 of the Code of Offenses, which pertains to violations of the procedure for emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere.
In addition, staff members of the enterprise were provided with training on fire safety rules at the landfill site to prevent similar incidents in the future.
