In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, raids are being conducted to check vehicles for compliance with environmental standards.

Medetbek Anarbek uulu, head of the regional department of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service for Bishkek and the Alamedin district, reported that checks are being carried out in collaboration with the staff of the Public Safety Management Service, aimed at improving air quality and reducing pollution levels. During the raids, specialists measure the concentration of smoke particles in exhaust gases, paying special attention to vehicles with diesel engines.

To check the vehicles, a device called a "smoke meter" is used, which is installed in the exhaust pipe to determine the density of emissions. If the pollution level exceeds 50%, the driver of the vehicle is issued a protocol.

Anarbek uulu emphasized that according to research findings, emissions from vehicles are one of the main causes of smog in Bishkek, ranking second after emissions related to coal burning.

Fines for exceeding environmental standards amount to 7,500 soms for individuals and 20,000 soms for legal entities. In 2025, fines totaling over 1 million soms were imposed as a result of similar raids.
