In October of this year, the European Union approved a new, 19th package of sanctions concerning Russia, which also affected banks from Kyrgyzstan, namely "Tolubai" and "Eurasian Savings Bank." Additionally, two companies were added to the sanctions list: LLC "Old Vector" and LLC "Greenex." EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela discussed the possible exclusion of these institutions from the list in an interview with journalists.

According to Síkela, these banks were included in the sanctions list due to concerns related to potential attempts to circumvent the restrictions imposed against Russia. He noted that exclusion from the list is possible as soon as the reasons for it cease to exist. "We regularly assess our measures and are open to constructive dialogue with the Kyrgyz authorities," he added.

In addition to this, Jozef Síkela reported that the European Union took into account the request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan for an independent audit in light of the sanctions imposed against the two banks. "All subsequent actions will be based on reliable data and strict adherence to EU procedures. We will continue to work transparently and constructively with the Kyrgyz authorities throughout the process," he concluded.
