The National Bank fined a commercial bank more than 21 million soms

On December 5, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic decided to impose a fine of 21 million 600 thousand soms on one of the commercial banks. The reason was violations in the area of legislation related to combating the financing of illegal activities and the legalization of criminal proceeds, as well as shortcomings in the organization of the internal control system.

It is worth noting that two other commercial banks had previously been held administratively liable for similar violations. This information was provided by the State Financial Intelligence Service.

The total amount of fines imposed on these banks amounted to 293 thousand soms.

As explained by the Financial Intelligence Service, the mentioned banks did not comply with the requirements for organizing internal control, including the use of specialized programs, as well as a risk-oriented approach and proper client verification.

In addition, during the inspections, violations were identified in the procedures and timelines for notifying about transactions subject to control, and non-compliance with the requirements for the application of targeted financial sanctions established by current legislation.
