According to the Eurasian Development Bank, in 2023, intra-regional investments in Central Asia significantly increased, reaching $1.3 billion, which is 42% more compared to the previous year. The main areas of activity are construction, manufacturing, and the financial sector, which accounted for 80% of the total investment volume.

The most significant contributions come from Kazakhstan with $9.4 billion and Uzbekistan with $10.7 billion in incoming investments.

The chief economist of the EDB, Yevgeny Vinokurov, noted that accumulated mutual foreign direct investments in the region exceeded $48 billion, which is a record in the entire history of observations. Over the past five years, the average annual growth rate of mutual investments in Central Asia has been 24.4%, which is significantly higher than the overall growth in the Eurasian region. The main growth factors are the successful implementation of the investment strategy in Kazakhstan and the active policy of encouraging foreign investments in Uzbekistan.

The total volume of mutual investments in the Eurasian region reached a record $48.4 billion.

Despite the global decline in foreign direct investments, which fell by 11% last year, there is a growth in investment activity in the Eurasian region.

The main driver of this growth is the private sector, whose share in investments has increased to 72%, amounting to $34.7 billion.
