Analysts explained why Central Asia needs agricultural warehouses the most
The report emphasizes key areas, among which agrilogistics and the storage of agricultural products stand out.
The study shows that many countries in Central Asia and the South Caucasus face a shortage of quality warehouse facilities. For example, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan are experiencing a lack of vegetable storage.
"It is recommended to develop a network of wholesale distribution centers for agricultural products, which will be equipped with cooling systems, long-term storage chambers, and sorting and packaging lines," the EDB report states.
The Fergana Valley (Uzbekistan/Kyrgyzstan/Tajikistan) is a region where three countries intersect, characterized by high population density and active horticulture and vegetable growing. A significant portion of Uzbekistan's fruit and vegetable production (Andijan and Fergana regions) and southern Kyrgyzstan (Osh region) is produced here.
According to EDB analysts, investments in cold chains can yield profits by reducing product losses and enhancing food security. It is important to note that for the Eurasian region, the development of agrilogistics is particularly significant, as agriculture constitutes a substantial share of GDP and exports.
