Kyrgyzstan in the Top 50 Best Travel Destinations in the World According to Financial Times
As part of a new investment project, the construction of the four-season ski cluster "Ala-Tuu Resort" has begun, located in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region. This grand project covers three zones: Zhyrgalang, Ak-Bulak, and Boz-Uchuk, and occupies an area of 3,916 hectares.
Special attention is being paid to the development of tourist infrastructure in the Issyk-Kul district and the city of Cholpon-Ata. Currently, all sanatoriums, boarding houses, hotels, and beaches are being updated in accordance with modern standards, which contributes to improving the quality of service.
According to the head of the Cabinet, Kyrgyzstan's international reputation as a tourist destination continues to grow. In 2025, the republic was included in the list of the 50 best vacation spots in the world according to the Financial Times, and was also recognized as one of the best places for ethnic tourism by the British publication The Guardian.
Significant achievements have also been made in the field of culture. Renovation work has been carried out on institutions, and the material and technical base has been improved. A budget of 990 million soms has been allocated for the construction of a new academic building for the Kyrgyz National University of Culture and Arts named after B. Beishenaliev, and 750 million soms have been earmarked for the M. Kureneev Music College.
Additionally, a philharmonic hall for 3,200 seats and a modern museum are planned to be built in Manas, which is part of a program to develop cultural infrastructure across the country.
An important milestone was the inclusion of the traditional Kyrgyz drink maksym in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage on December 10, 2025.
To support the sports sector, the State Agency for Sports was established in 2025. This year, the salaries of coaches were increased by 30%. Budget expenditures on sports are also increasing: from 800 million soms in 2020 to 2.2 billion soms in 2024 and 2.5 billion soms in 2025.
Currently, sports infrastructure is actively being updated, and new sports facilities are being constructed. In 2025, the Small Sports Arena in Bishkek with a capacity of 5,000 seats was reconstructed, and a sports palace with a capacity of 5,200 seats is being built in Manas with a budget of 1 billion soms.
In Bishkek, the construction of the "Bishkek Arena" stadium with a capacity of 51,000 seats is underway, which will meet FIFA standards. New sports halls and stadiums are being opened in all regions, providing access to modern sports opportunities for a wide range of the population.
