At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 24, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev spoke about the progress of major cultural projects that are ongoing in Kyrgyzstan in 2025.

As part of the discussion on the national budget being reviewed by parliament, 465 million soms have been allocated for the modernization of the material and technical base of cultural institutions in 2025. In the previous year, 2024, 952 million soms were allocated for these purposes.

Additionally, last year, major repairs and restoration work were carried out in the buildings of cultural institutions. In 2024, 273 million soms were allocated for these needs, and in 2025 — 208 million soms.

Among the most important projects that are already being implemented or are in the process of implementation:

    • a new academic building for the Kyrgyz National University of Culture and Arts named after B. Beishenaliev — 990 million soms;

    • the construction of a new building for the Kyrgyz National Music College named after M. Kurunkeeva — 750 million soms.

Special attention in 2025 was given to the development of cultural infrastructure in the regions. In particular, in the city of Manas:

    • the construction of a new philharmonic hall for 3,200 seats is ongoing, with a total project cost of 1 billion soms;

    • work has begun on the creation of a modern city museum, for which 250 million soms have been allocated.

According to Kasymaliev, the implementation of these projects is part of the state policy aimed at the development of culture and art, improving conditions for creative education, and expanding citizens' access to cultural facilities throughout the country.

The head of the Cabinet also noted that the national drink maksym has been included in the UNESCO list of intangible heritage.
