The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) commented on the situation related to the increase in the number of trucks at certain border crossing points between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to information from the Kazakh side, this increase in the time required for border procedures is caused by the implementation of planned measures for border control.

Kazakh authorities emphasized that such measures are temporary and targeted, aimed at regulating the border and combating the illegal turnover of goods, which poses a threat to national security.

At the same time, Astana underscores the importance of good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, viewing it as a strategic partner. Kazakhstan expresses hope for mutual understanding and continued joint efforts to combat illegal activities, which negatively affect the economies of both countries and their international reputation.

The leadership of Kazakhstan has always shown respect for Kyrgyzstan and its people, reflecting the country's strategy, which is not subject to change depending on circumstances. "The fight against illegal transportation serves the interests of both countries," noted Astana.

It is important to note that such actions fall within the powers of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and do not affect the integration process.

According to the legal framework of the EAEU, member states can cancel mutual control in the areas of customs, transport, sanitation, and veterinary medicine, except for specific cases provided for by EAEU legislation.

In general, partnerships between countries should be based on the lawful actions of governments and authorized bodies. Smuggling, in turn, is an unreliable foundation for interstate relations and harms both the economy and integration processes.

At the same time, combating the shadow turnover of goods within the EAEU is a priority task. To ensure the lawful turnover of goods and reduce the number of control measures, mechanisms for navigation seals, traceability, and labeling of goods are being introduced, and work continues to improve customs control over the value of goods.
