In Russia, another tightening of the recycling fee rules is planned, which, according to experts, will lead to an increase in car prices. This change, which has already become the second in the last few months, has been presented for consideration by the government of the Russian Federation.

The initiative, developed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, aims to revise the mechanisms for calculating the recycling fee for cars imported from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries. The main goal is to unify the recycling fee rules for all foreign cars coming from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan.

Currently, there are regulations stating that foreign cars imported from the EAEU and registered by individuals under a customs declaration are exempt from the recycling fee. This means that if a citizen, for example, imports a car from Kyrgyzstan for personal use, has gone through all customs procedures, and paid the necessary duties, they will not have to pay extra for recycling. At the same time, if the car is imported as a commodity, the recycling fee will be charged in full.

The new bill proposes to equalize the conditions for foreign cars used for personal purposes and those intended for sale. This is expected to lead to an increase in prices for cars purchased for personal use in EAEU countries.

At the moment, the document is in the stage of public discussion. If approved, it will come into force on April 1.
