The first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took place in Bishkek, attended by the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Adylbek Kasymaliev and his Tajik counterpart Kohir Rasulzoda.
Political Dialogue and the Border
Kasymaliev noted that 2025 has become an important milestone in bilateral relations, thanks to the successful completion of border delimitation. Both sides are confident that the remaining sections will be demarcated in the near future.

Economic Initiatives and Trade
The Kyrgyz side proposed a number of measures aimed at increasing trade turnover between the countries.
Logistics and Transport
Kasymaliev also expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to become the 'trade gateway' for Tajik goods that will be directed to the markets of the EAEU and the European Union through the GSP+ system.
The parties discussed a railway project connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, which will open new opportunities for transit in the region.
Additionally, large-scale improvements to border checkpoints and the implementation of digital technologies at the border are planned.
Tourism on the Rise
The tourism sector is showing record growth: in 2025, Kyrgyzstan was visited by 86,000 Tajik tourists, which is 12 times higher than the figures for 2024.
Discussions are also ongoing regarding the introduction of a unified visa for Central Asian countries, which could contribute to an increase in the flow of foreign tourists.

Cultural Cooperation
The Days of Tajik Culture are planned to be held in Kyrgyzstan in May 2026. The Tajik delegation will also be invited to the VI World Nomad Games.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the protocol of the meeting and a memorandum of cooperation between the 'Kyrgyz Export' center and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan were signed.
