Probation clients are trained in in-demand professions

The educational process includes various directions: culinary arts, plumbing, and hairdressing. Each course is assigned specialized classrooms, and classes are held according to a set schedule, allowing for the combination of theory with practical experience. This approach facilitates the assimilation of material and the consolidation of skills in practice.

The courses are designed for five months and groups are formed with 12 people each. The training is organized in such a way that future chefs initially study recipes, calculations, and the cost price of dishes, learn to plan purchases and avoid product overuse, and then move on to practical work. This method is also applied in other training directions.

Nurlanbek Bazarbaev, the deputy director of the department, noted the importance of this project in the context of the social rehabilitation of probation participants.

- We launched these courses to help our clients reintegrate into society, gain new knowledge and skills. This opens up opportunities for them to start a new life and become in-demand specialists, - he emphasized.

The choice of professions for training is based on the needs of the labor market. The public catering sector is actively developing, the construction sector is experiencing a shortage of plumbers, and the profession of hairdresser remains consistently in demand.

- We take into account the real demands of the labor market so that our graduates can find jobs and support themselves, - noted Bazarbaev.

Previously, courses for drivers were conducted within the structure, but currently, their training system is undergoing reforms. Training in this direction is planned to resume after resolving legal issues.

The first successes are already visible: two groups training to become chefs and plumbers have successfully completed their courses and received certificates.

- It is important for us that a person who has completed training and received a certificate considers it their success. In the modern world, having a qualification document is becoming an important requirement for employment, - he noted.

The department also actively assists graduates with employment after completing the courses.

- We strive to provide not only the acquisition of a profession but also assistance in job searching. If a person faces difficulties with employment, we are ready to help. During the probationary supervision, a person must be engaged, and we create all the conditions for this, - Bazarbaev added.

Psychological support also plays an important role in the program. Specialists conduct individual consultations, assess the emotional state of participants, and develop personalized support programs.

Enrollment in the courses is on a voluntary basis.

- Resocialization is impossible without the desire of the person themselves. We cannot force anyone, but we try to create conditions and support those who are ready to change their lives, - he emphasized.

This project has long-term prospects. In the future, there are plans to expand the list of professions and increase the number of facilities for practical classes.

The agency notes that the program is already yielding noticeable results, helping people return to professional activity and a full life in society.

Reference: The Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Probation" was adopted on February 24, 2017, and came into force on January 1, 2019. Since September 2019, the probation institute has been transferred to the Ministry of Justice, where the Probation Department has been established. The main task of probation is the resocialization of offenders and their return to law-abiding life to reduce recidivism.
