In Kazakhstan, new measures are planned to combat the spread of deepfakes, including photos, videos, and audio content created using the images and voices of other people. As noted by Majilis deputy Ekaterina Smyslyaeva, the owners of the platforms where such materials are created will bear responsibility for these actions, reports the Center for Combating Disinformation.
Citizens of Kazakhstan have been warned about the increasing amount of illegal content on the internet, which is associated with the launch of the updated version of the neural network Sora 2. This application can generate realistic video scenes based on simple text prompts.

“Anonymous users are actively posting videos with fake images of well-known politicians, cultural figures, and government officials, attributing statements and actions to them that never actually occurred. Despite the presence of a watermark from the Sora neural network, many perceive such videos as real and continue to share them, thereby contributing to the spread of disinformation. Even if they have no malicious intent, such actions can lead to legal consequences,” the statement says.
Deepfake refers to videos, photos, or audio recordings created using artificial intelligence that look real but are actually fakes. Deepfake creators alter a person's face or voice to that of another, creating an illusion of reality. These technologies can be used for both entertainment purposes and deception.
