According to Turgunbaev, it was during this event that he received a gift from the head of the government, Apas Jumagulov — this horse, which became the prize for the title of "Best Player".
Turgunbaev, born on March 12, 1957, in the village of Sary-Kamysh located in the Kara-Kulja district of the Osh region, shared his experiences at the competitions and spoke about horse care in a comment for Turmush.
In one of the tournaments, Turgunbaev suffered a serious injury — he broke his jaw. "I was playing for the Uzgen team and during the game, I lifted a goat kid off the ground, which led to a hit from opponents. I felt a crunch and a sharp pain in my jaw, after which I got off the horse. An ambulance took me off the field, and the paramedics in the ambulance noted that I was still alive. I felt that my jaw was broken, and my upper teeth were loose. In the hospital, I had an X-ray, my teeth were wired together, and I was advised to eat only liquid food. I stayed in the hospital until the end of the ulak tartysh tournament. A week later, I returned home, where I recovered my jaw over six months. Fortunately, my upper teeth healed quickly. Despite the injury, I did not give up playing ulak tartysh," he said.
Another incident occurred when he was hit in the nose, which also resulted in a fracture. "When I returned home, my family already knew about the injury. They were in shock. Being a ulakchy and a rider is not easy," the horse breeder added.
Turgunbaev also noted that his farm houses several hundred horses.
