As of today, the gold reserves confirmed by the State Commission amount to approximately 980 tons. This was reported by the Minister of Natural Resources, Meder Mashiev, in an interview with Tazabek.
The head of the agency noted that the majority of the gold reserves are concentrated at the Kumtor deposit. "As a result of geological exploration conducted at Kumtor in 2024, the increase in reserves is estimated at 147 tons. Currently, new horizons and areas are being studied. We have a promising plan to increase reserves by another 180–200 tons. This concerns the Togolok deposit, which is located near Kumtor and has been transferred for development. Follow-up exploration work has been completed, showing an increase in reserves of 2 tons. These days, an environmental expert review of the project for the construction of a gold extraction plant at Togolok is underway, and construction will begin next year," he said.
The minister also added that there are many medium and small gold deposits in the country, where active work is ongoing. The results of geological exploration are submitted for consideration by the State Commission throughout the year.

In addition to gold, according to Mashiev, there are reserves of 1200 tons of silver, about 12,000 tons of copper, and approximately 1.8 billion tons of coal.
“These are the main minerals. The figures may change from year to year due to new calculations. As a result of the work of the State Commission, reserves may increase, while according to reports from mining companies, they may decrease. These figures are 'floating' and are constantly being updated,” the minister concluded.
