The Kyrgyz Geological Service, which operates under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, clarified the situation regarding gas reserves in the Batken region. This statement followed the spread of inaccurate information, including claims that Chinese investors allegedly found 500 million cubic meters of gas.

According to official data, the North Rishtan field is located in the Kadamjai district, approximately 60 km southeast of Kadamjai. Geological exploration and 2D seismic surveys have identified the presence of both oil and gas deposits. Development of this field began in 1954, and by January 1, 1993, it was nearly exhausted, with a total of 46 wells drilled during that period.

As for the South Rishtan field, it is also located in the Kadamjai district, 60 km southeast of the Furkat station, and was discovered in 1989.

The Geological Service noted that hydrocarbon extraction at many fields in Kyrgyzstan was previously carried out by Uzbekistan. According to the transfer act dated June 15, 2000, JSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz" received from JSC "Uzbekneftgazodobycha" the rights to the oil and gas fields of the Burgandinsky massif in the Batken region.

On September 9, 2008, JSC "Batkenneftegaz" was issued license No. 930 NE for the use of subsoil in the North and South Rishtan areas, valid until September 9, 2028, with a total licensed area of 2,100 hectares. In July 2019, the company signed a licensing agreement for the development of a technical project and opened a reclamation account at "Optima Bank".

However, on December 25, 2024, the licensing commission for subsoil use annulled license No. 930 NE in accordance with the KR Law "On Subsoil".

As of January 1, 2025, the reserves of the North Rishtan field, approved by the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, are:

The reserves of free gas in the South Rishtan field on the same date amount to 1,916.02 million cubic meters (geological) and 356.86 million cubic meters (recoverable).

In conclusion, the Kyrgyz Geological Service emphasized that all official data on mineral reserves is formed exclusively based on approved geological studies and decisions of state authorities.
