In the Batken region, in the Pidap area, near the village of Orukzar, a study of the gas field is planned.

According to information from the regional president's office, on December 20, 2025, Aibek Shamenov, the presidential representative, held a working meeting at the Pidap site, where unused gas wells are located.

On-site, he instructed the akim of the Kadamjai district, Bolotbek Bayake uulu, to organize activities for assessing gas reserves and to develop proposals for relevant ministries for conducting research and geological exploration work.

At the plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 24, 2025, deputy Yrysbek Atazhanov raised the issue of the gas field in Pidap.

He noted that there are 36 wells on the site that are in an unused state. This, in turn, negatively affects the ecology and the quality of drinking water due to the large volume of unexploited gas.

In response, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev promised to visit the field during his next trip to Batken.

Turmush reported in 2014 that the gas reserves at this site amount to about 500 million cubic meters. As noted by the local administration, these reserves were discovered during geological exploration work conducted at the Pidap site.

The geological exploration activities were carried out by specialists from OJSC "Batkenneftegaz," which was previously owned by the LLC "Oil Exploration Company 'Zhunnen'."

In 2015, President Almazbek Atambayev appealed to the Russian "Gazprom" for funding for gas extraction in the Batken region. He stated that a gas field had been found in this region that could supply blue fuel to the south of the country for ten years. Atambayev also proposed to allocate part of the funds earmarked for the construction of the North-South gas pipeline for the search and extraction of gas in Kyrgyzstan.

According to expert estimates, by 2015, these reserves could supply gas to the Osh and Batken regions.

In June 2024, Turmush reported the existence of a source called Pidap-suu in the Ak-Turpakskiy ayil aimak (local residents call it Sasyk-Bulak).

This underground source is still actively functioning today. The water contains hydrogen sulfide, which leads to a characteristic smell of rotten eggs that is neutralized in the air.

A Turmush correspondent gathered a number of interesting facts about the Pidap-Suu spring. In 1875-1876, a military garrison subordinate to the Fergana district was located in this area. When the soldiers began to suffer from scabies and ulcers, a biologist-chemist V.V. Pidov was sent to them. After conducting a survey and exploring the area, he discovered a source located 8-9 km south of Ak-Turpaks, now 9 km from the Osh-Batken-Razzakov highway.

After studying the composition of the water, biologist Pidov concluded that it had healing properties and opened a medical point near the source, where he treated soldiers for scabies. Years later, this point was destroyed by mudflows.

Since then, the source has been named after Pidov. Local residents continue to use the water from it for medicinal purposes.

According to shepherds, after drinking from this source, livestock do not suffer from liver diseases.

Gardeners claim that irrigating vineyards with water from this source helps protect the plants from various diseases.
