According to official data, the North Rishtan oil and gas field is located in the Kadamjay district, approximately 60 kilometers southeast of Kadamjay. Development of the field began in 1954, and after drilling and 2D seismic exploration, oil and gas reserves were discovered. By January 1, 1993, the field was nearly depleted, with a total of 46 wells drilled over the years.
Additionally, in 1989, the South Rishtan gas field was discovered, also in the Kadamjay district, 60 kilometers southeast of the Furkat station.
For a long time, hydrocarbon extraction at some fields in Kyrgyzstan was carried out by Uzbekistan. According to the acceptance-transfer act dated June 15, 2000, JSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz" received the oil and gas fields of the Burgandinsky massif from JSC "Uzbekneftegazodobycha," located in the Batken region.
The license for the development of the North Rishtan and South Rishtan areas was issued to JSC "Batkenneftegaz" on September 9, 2008 (license No. 930 NE), valid until September 9, 2028, with a total licensed area of 2,100 hectares.
On July 1, 2019, the company received license agreement No. 6 for the development of the technical project at the specified fields, and a reclamation account was opened at JSC "Optima Bank."
However, the decision of the Licensing Commission for Subsoil Use dated December 25, 2024 (protocol No. 79-N-2024) annulled license No. 930 NE according to paragraph 4 of part 3 of article 26 of the law "On Subsoil."
As of January 1, 2025, the reserves of the North Rishtan field, approved by the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, are as follows:
- oil — 654.42 thousand tons (geological), 20.38 thousand tons (recoverable);
- dissolved gas in oil — 68.62 million m³ (geological), 56.61 million m³ (recoverable);
- free gas — 44.17 million m³ (geological), 36.44 million m³ (recoverable).
As for the South Rishtan field, as of January 1, 2025, the reserves of free gas amount to 1,916.02 million m³ (geological) and 356.86 million m³ (recoverable), as stated in the report.
The Kyrgyz Geological Service emphasized that information about mineral reserves is formed exclusively based on official geological data and decisions of authorized bodies.
