In the village of Boroldoy, located in the Kemin district, an unusual incident occurred: a snow leopard, listed in the Red Book, climbed a tree next to a private house. Later, it was successfully removed from the tree with the help of specialists who arrived at the scene.

As reported by AKIpress, the predator was discovered at night on December 30. The snow leopard was sitting on an oak tree, and a video captured how it was caught by being covered with a net and placed in a cage.

According to the Ministry of Natural Resources, the ranger of the Chon-Kemin State Natural Park and a hunter immediately arrived at the scene to help safely lower the animal from the tree.

Tilek Beishebaev, a local resident, shared that the events unfolded on December 29 around 9:00 PM. "One of the guys noticed the beast in the evening. When the dogs started barking, he got in his car and saw the snow leopard cross the road. He immediately called me and said, 'Tilek, I saw the leopard, it's walking around the streets of the village,'" Beishebaev shared.

After that, he wrote in a group chat to warn his fellow villagers: "Be careful, a snow leopard has come to the village, it has been seen on the upper streets." Together with other young people, they began to comb the streets, gardens, and yards in search of the predator. They searched for about an hour and a half to two hours until they noticed that the leopard had climbed a tree. We started taking videos and photos, and many people gathered, including residents of neighboring villages Zhol-Bulak and Kichi-Kemin. To avoid scaring the animal, I reported it to the relevant authorities by calling "102," to the local police officer. All services arrived at the scene. We also contacted the Chon-Kemin National Park and the NABU organization. Specialists left the city around 1 AM, and a special group arrived around 4 AM," he added.
According to Beishebaev, the gathered residents waited until four in the morning, not allowing the predator to come down from the tree. "The special group had no firearms — only tranquilizers. A young man named Zhyldyzbek from Kichi-Kemin initially could not use the medication correctly. Then he climbed the tree and injected the shot from about one meter away. The leopard growled and climbed even higher. We were told that the effect should start in 10 minutes, but the beast continued to growl and did not fall asleep. We waited 10, 20, then half an hour — with no changes," he added.

Zhyldyzbek and another local resident named Ular made a lasso and, with the help of a long pole, managed to throw a loop over the animal's head. Meanwhile, 20–30 people removed the net from the soccer goal and prepared below. When we pulled the rope, the leopard jumped down and fell to the ground. We immediately covered it with a net and secured it. NABU representatives had a special cage, and the animal was placed inside. An examination showed that the snow leopard was healthy and was an adult female. After that, we officially handed it over to the representatives of NABU and the Kemin Forestry. Everything was done in accordance with the law," concluded Tilek Beishebaev.
