Kanybek Dosmambetov, the Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, visited the Clinical Emergency Hospital in Bishkek to learn about the condition of those injured in the fire at the nursing home.

Fourteen people were admitted to the hospital: 13 with carbon monoxide poisoning and one with first-degree burns. Four patients are in moderate condition, two are in serious condition, and eight are in satisfactory condition. The condition of the seriously ill patients is related to underlying health issues and poisoning.

The minister carefully reviewed the hospitalization conditions and current treatment, giving instructions for further medical assistance.

The fire occurred in the palliative care ward of the nursing home, covering an area of about 30 square meters.

Firefighters arrived at the scene within 9 minutes. Due to the specifics of the facility, four units of equipment were deployed, as well as ambulance teams.

The mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet, Edil Baisalov, and the Minister of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, Kanat Sagynbaev, also arrived at the scene of the emergency.

Unfortunately, two seriously ill patients passed away, while another 11 people were sent to medical facilities for examination due to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

It is worth noting that fire drills were conducted at the facility in July 2025, and all safety measures were followed.

The main building of the nursing home was not damaged; the fire occurred only in one room. Evacuation will be conducted if necessary.

The mayor has instructed a review of all documentation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

The causes of the fire will be known after analysis by the competent authorities.

As reported by Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva, the fire did not affect the nursing home itself, as it occurred in the palliative care ward. The facility houses 220 residents, and the question of their evacuation is not currently on the table.

According to her, there were 13 people (seriously ill) in the men's palliative care ward, of whom two died. The other 11 were initially transferred to adjacent rooms and then hospitalized to prevent poisoning. If their condition stabilizes, they will be returned the next day.

Victoria Mozgacheva also added that fire safety drills were conducted last year with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and there were no remarks. Currently, specialists are investigating the causes of the incident in the ward.

Additionally, in 2025, a major renovation was carried out in the main three-story building of the nursing home.
