Kyrgyzstan strengthened its role in the CSTO and Turkic Council in the context of global challenges - Ministry of Foreign Affairs

At a press conference dedicated to the results of 2025, Kyrgyzstan's Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev noted that the past year was a significant stage for the country's foreign policy activities within the framework of the Turkic Council (TC) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that President Sadyr Japarov's participation in the 12th summit of the TC, held in Gabala (Azerbaijan), allowed for a summary of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in this organization for 2024-2025.

During this period, Kyrgyzstan organized 24 TC events on its territory and 4 abroad. These included meetings at the ministerial level, as well as cultural and humanitarian forums aimed at deepening cooperation and mutual understanding among the participating states.

Kulubaev also noted that during Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship, the first meeting of the heads of government of the member states of the CSTO took place. This event occurred in September in Bishkek and was an important step for practical interaction within the CSTO.

Additionally, at Kyrgyzstan's initiative, several draft agreements and memorandums aimed at deepening integration processes were prepared and presented for consideration. In total, more than 40 events took place during the chairmanship in the country.

The minister noted that in the context of ongoing international instability and the rise of transnational threats, Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship in the CSTO required a high degree of responsibility, initiative, and coordinated work from all members of the organization.

Jeenbek Kulubaev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan successfully fulfilled the assigned task, ensuring continuity and development, and made a significant contribution to strengthening collective security.

Particular attention during the chairmanship was paid to political coordination, enhancing the effectiveness of responses to modern threats, as well as developing interaction between the relevant bodies of the participating states. The agenda for combating terrorism, extremism, transnational crime, and drug trafficking was actively promoted, including in cooperation with the CSTO.
